Wheel of Life Assessment

The Life Balance Wheel — The Independent Physician's Blueprint
A Companion Assessment

The Life Balance Wheel

Rate the eight domains of your life from 1 to 10. Then look at the wheel. The shape tells the truth your schedule keeps hiding.

Most of us measure one wheel and call it a life. We watch the practice. We watch the paycheck. A round wheel rolls. A lopsided wheel rattles. This tool measures all eight at once, so you can see the rattle before it throws you off the road.

Your Wheel

The further a domain reaches toward the rim, the higher you scored it. A balanced, full wheel rolls smoothly. A spiky or shrunken one is the diagnosis.

Rate Each Domain

Score honestly, not aspirationally. 1 is empty. 10 is full. Where you are today, not where you wish you were.

Tip: switch to Goal mode to lay a target wheel over today's wheel and see the gap you are aiming to close.

A companion assessment for The Independent Physician's Blueprint by Jude A. Pierre, MD. This wheel is a reflection tool, not medical or psychological advice.

Source The modern Wheel of Life assessment was created by Paul J. Meyer, founder of the Success Motivation Institute, in 1960, drawing on far older traditions of viewing a balanced life as a whole rather than in parts. It has since become a widely used coaching tool. "Wheel of Life" is a trademark of Meyer Resource Group, Inc. This eight-domain version is adapted for physicians from The Independent Physician's Blueprint.
